Hospital Care

Good Samaritan Hospital.

The physicians at Reichman, Brown, Kaplan MD's are members of the staff of Good Samaritan Medical Center located in West Islip 1000 Montauk Highway. 631-376-3000.

Our physicians provide support services  for the newborn well baby nurseries and the pediatric ward.  An excellent staff of in-house pediatric housestaff makes Good Samaritan Hospital an excellent facility for most pediatric care.

Emergency room evaluations for most pediatric medical problems are handled by the in-house Emergency room pediatrician. These physicians have an excellent rapport with us and with the pediatricians in the surrounding communities.

Just as a small bit of inside information, we work so closely with these ER physicians that Dr George. Rogu is married to one of them.
Dr. Delia Rogu (Pediatric ER Attending) does not see patients in our office.

Good Samaritan Hospital also provides pediatric sub-specialty clinics staffed by highly qualified and experienced sub specialists. These physicians are trained and work closely with the doctors at RBK-Pediatrics.

Good Samaritan Hospital also offers the service of a Pediatric intensive care unit for the sickest of the sick. Care for the critical care patient is handled by the in-house Intensive Care Specialist.

For more complex problems requiring a tertiary setting the physicians the Pediatricians will refer and/or transfer this patient to one of the excellent local Children's hospitals such as  Schneider's Children's Hospital, Stony brook University Hospital and Winthrop University Hospital. The choice of a facility is based on your child's needs, parental input and availability of the appropriate services.

Emergency and hospital admission protocol

If a child is seen in our office and is determined to be extremely ill and needs hospitalization, the following protocol is use.

Our doctor will contact the attending Pediatrician in the emergency room and give a medical report about the status of the patient and our preliminary diagnosis.
Transportation is usually provided by EMS for the unstable patients requiring support services during transport.

Upon arrival to Good Samaritan Hospital, the ER doctor will take over care for the child. They will stabilize the condition, perform all laboratory analysis, radiological procedures required and begin to administer medical treatment while still in the emergency room.

They will be in telephone contact with us throughout most of the care of the patients. If the child requires admission to the Pediatric Ward, care is return back to our service.

Since this is a reaching facility, our doctors work with Interns and residents. They will perform and initial History and physical examination and will contact our doctors to review the case and determine a medical plan.

Even though our doctors are not physically on the ward all day we are responsible and in complete control of your Childs medical care.

One of our Doctors will round with the house staff in the morning and make medical decisions about the case. We really like to speak with the parents face to face about their condition. Please make every effort to be available between 8am - 9 am.

If we miss you, we usually try to contact the parents via telephone, to update them on the status of their child. You are always welcome however to call us.
